Swan 38 Scholarship


Annually the Hurricane Hunter Association acknowledges outstanding students in the 403rd Wing in the form of financial assistance through the SWAN 38 Memorial Scholarship. Please download the complete application for detailed eligibly requirements and other instructions.

This memorial scholarship is named after the 54th WRS crew, with the call sign “Swan 38”, who disappeared without a trace over the Western Pacific on 12 October 1974. The following were the men aboard:
    Capt  Edward R. Bushnell
    1Lt  Gary W. Crass
    1Lt  Michael P. O'Brien
    1Lt  Timothy J. Hoffman
    TSgt  Kenneth G. Suhr
    Sgt  Detlef W. Ringler
